Is consciousness an emergent property of the universe or is it fundamental? Self best forget about the word universe and replace it with self. Now. There is only one consciousness, i.e., there is only one self. Self has conceived itself - including but not limited through the bodymind complex - to perceive itself as self-differentiated so not to be by itself. It is not good for one to be alone the wise say and so it is. This one being self. It is not good for self to be by itself. Hence the purpose of self.
