The highest goal is Self-realization; it means realizing that the Self is God itself and that the essence of this Godliness is Love experiencing its Self. It is this what the Atman is. The Atman (Self) is literally Love itself which is why Atma-Prema or Self-Love 'is' at the very heart of that what it means God-realization. It is realizing you are in reality Love itself having this physical experience called Life (aka प्रेममूर्ति). Both are real; both are the same Love that revels in itself.
