The brain produces the conscious experience (and intelligence). But why? It's all about companionship really. In order to understand why companionship is the purpose behind the individual's conscious experience it must be understood that there is, in truth, only one self and that the bodymind complex including but not limited to the brain is self engineered so self could perceive itself as diverse not to feel alone. What it means is that self transcends its differentiated self and that the differentiated self is in reality but one self not wanting to be by itself. So yes; it all comes down to companionship really; this innate desire for friendship, to love and be loved in return. In conclusion. Self best forget about this word called 'conscious/ness'. Truth is simple. Self perceives itself as diverse not to be by itself. The purpose of self is companionship, friendship, love. Final remark; we have but one common ancestor: self. Self is the origin of itself and all diversity is self perceived for companionship, friendship, love.
