The Armenian philosopher George Ivanovich Gurdjieff thought that we are born without a soul and that our task in life is to help our soul grow and develop and that souls aren't thus born but that they are earned. Unfortunately this is an erroneous statement for Mr. Gurdjieff mistook the ego or persona for the soul. The ego or persona is a byproduct of the Soul. Truth is that 'there is only One Soul or One Self or One Bio which perceives itself as Diverse so not to feel alone'.
