It is said that one of the bigger questions in physics is whether time is an emergent phenomenon or if it is fundamental to nature. Truth is simple. The appearant passage of time is the result of the unwillingness of Self to be by itself. Abstractly speaking it could thus be said that the purpose for time is companionship or even love. Or, to be more concrete, that the purpose of Self is companionship otherwise known as love which is why there is the perception of time.
