It is true that the origin of all trauma (in this case I will call it samsara) is action (karma) and that the origin of all action (karma) is desire (kama). But the truly wise understand that the origin of all desire (kama) is self (se, sē, sve, swé or svā) not wishing to be by itself and that the purpose why self is different in life is companionship otherwise known as love. Hence we go from samsara to nirvana or from trauma to relative peace and joy by means of self-understanding.
