Reality is (the result of) self not wanting to be by itself. The purpose of self companionship. The purpose of self friendship. The purpose of self love. All these words - companionship, friendship, love - are but a verbal and scriptural expression of one's very own primordial and most innate desire (resulting in the big bang for big is self or the initial singularity and bang is self quantizing itself so to embrace itself); this desire that is the cause of time, space, matter... even energy. Hence the answer to the question why space-time-matter-energy are unified. Uni is self not wanting to be by itself.
